When you are about to become parents, everything changes. It’s one of the biggest life revolutions and it is also reflected in how you use your home. The truth is the sooner you start arranging space for the newborn, the better. But don’t worry, it does not have to be difficult! Below you will find 3 easy steps to create a modern nursery ideal to spend time with your princess or prince.

First, start with a color palette. There’s a sort of convention to use pinks for girls and blues for boys. Yet, a modern design and, quite frankly, your personality can question such well-worn patterns. You can definitely opt for some neutral colors, such as whites and greys and decide on supplemental or accent color. In this project, we went with a classical light blue which was a perfect match for our Clients and hopefully their baby boy.

Secondly, think about functionality. First months require lots of time spend on nursing, diaper changes and, fortunately, baby’s sleep. Think about comfortable furniture to meet these needs. On the other hand, remember that these evolve in relatively short time and a nursery becomes a toddler’s room where she/he mostly plays and you store all of his (multiplying) belongings. That is why, do not go into obsession of filling every little corner of the room with an object. Leave empty space, a big rug to play and some functional cabinets, such as these Ikea’s Stuva line. For smaller and everyday items, get some practical and pretty baskets. There’s a wide variety of them available in Allegro as well as stationary shops.

Last, but not least, give it a bold statement. A simple room becomes a baby’s kingdom with fun pieces such as a distinctive lamp or a 3d name description. We also encourage you to do something unique with one wall. You can select an adorable wallpaper or even try to paint something yourself with help of YT tutorials. In Mateo’s room we opted for wallpaper with cute animals from tapetuj.pl and his beautiful name placed just above the cradle.

Almost a 100-year old house and a family of 5. Among them, two princesses with very defined tastes. It’s such an experience to work with children. Firstly because you really need to try to meet up to their expectations (they will let you know quickly if you nailed it!). Secondly, you need to consider practical observations of parents and how they see the functionality of a designated space.

Here the goal was a harmonious interior design for two young individuals and a furniture that could last for a couple of years. Although we love custom-built and/or vintage furniture, we think Ikea has some great pieces that can fit into kids room. Look at these Busunge beds that can in fact work throughout entire life of our children. For storage, the most popular option (and for a reason!) is Kallax line which with simple hacks can include also first desk area.

Another must-have element in such spaces are accent walls. The easiest way is to paint one with a selected color. If you are worried about how it turns out, simply get some samples and try them out on cardboard placed on the designated wall. It’s important to see how the light operates and if a more delicate tone wouldn’t be a better option. If you are not afraid of color, you can play even with two walls. Here we did it by mixing paint with a wallpaper, both having in common a generic palette of the room. We think it brought a lot of harmony to the space as well as symmetrical beds for the girls.

We often crave what we do not have, yet not always is what we need. Some may sleep in a busy waiting area, others need a truly silent place to relax and dive into good sleep. We realized that in this project, where actually what you cannot see is what makes this bedroom unique and custom-made. Behind an elegant wallpaper, we placed professional acoustic panels from Apama to keep this space well isolated from any potential external sounds.

The size of the room also enabled Ventana Sur Studio to include some personalized solutions. On the main wall what really stand out are the over-sized elements of headboard and these ultra-modern Nowodvorski lamps. If you look opposite, you get into a massive custom-made wardrobe where we could even fit a home office nook!
